The Gaokerena tree

The Gaokerena tree

The life-giving juice of the Gaokerena tree can be likened to the Amrut (immortal nectar) of the Hindu Gods. An mortal who drinks the Amrut becomes immortal.

“The Homa plant does not decay, bears no fruit, resembles the vine, is knotty, and has leaves like jessamin, yellow and white.”  (This is an excerpt from the book- Forest Folklore: Mythology and Romance By Alexander Porteous, Chapter : Trees)
